The answer, and its limits
Three states, all of them useful.
Venora distinguishes between an answer it can support, a question it cannot answer, and sources that disagree.
- Cited answer
- The response resolves to specific documents, pages and versions, and the retrieved passage can be read in place.
- Insufficient approved evidence
- Where the authorised sources do not support an answer, Venora states that instead of producing one.
- Conflicting sources
- Where approved and under-review documents disagree, both are surfaced for a reviewer to decide.

For technical buyers
The architecture underneath.
Venora is a retrieval-augmented system. Approved documents are processed into retrievable passages with their document identity, section, version and approval status preserved as metadata. A question is resolved against the user’s entitlements, then against that passage index.
The language model receives only the passages the user is authorised to see, together with an instruction to answer from those passages alone and to state when they are insufficient. Citations are generated from the metadata attached to the retrieved passages rather than from the model’s own recollection.
Retrieval quality and citation correctness are reviewed against your own documentation during a pilot, so the evaluation is based on your material rather than a public benchmark.
